“I went out yesterday for the first time with it expecting weird looks, but i got compliments from everyone that saw it. It's great quality and feels like real leather. The picture doesn't do it justice.”

The chapter Stoker cut · the night on the bag

The costume goes back in its box on November 1st. The bag doesn't.

The morning after Walpurgis Night: the wolf lying across the traveller in the snow, the riders with torches, the house with its windows lit.
The morning after · drawn by our artists after Stoker's cut chapter

Stoker cut this chapter from Dracula for length. A traveller ignores every warning on Walpurgis Night — the old spring Halloween, when his coachman says the graves open and the dead walk — and finds a tomb cut with one line: “The dead travel fast.” At dawn the soldiers find a wolf lying across him, keeping him warm. Someone had already sent word that he was expected.

That night is the front panel of this bag: the wolf on the crag, the red sky, the one house with its windows lit. Drawn by our artists, printed into the grain — the whole story to anyone who knows it on the 31st, a handbag to everyone else on the 1st.

“Be careful of my guest — his safety is most precious to me.”

— the telegram, Dracula's Guest, Bram Stoker, 1914
The thing everyone was warned about.I · the wolf

The thing everyone was warned about.

In the story it is the wolf that keeps the traveller alive till morning. On the bag it stands on the crag and calls the night in.

Where the guest is expected.II · the lit windows

Where the guest is expected.

One house on the hill with every window lit. Not lost out here — invited. On the 31st, that is the whole difference.

Walpurgis Night — the other Halloween.III · the red sky

Walpurgis Night — the other Halloween.

The last night of April, when Stoker's coachman says the graves open. Blood-red sky, bats on the panels, black interior. Dark, and still a handbag.

I made this one for the readers whose favourite holiday is Halloween.

“Carry it to the party on the 31st and to the office on the 1st. Nobody has to be told what it is — the ones who know will know.”
Jane Grey, Founder of Lettoria
